Glucosamine Sulphate

Glucosamine has become well-known and well used over the past few years and most people know that it helps keep joints working. It is a naturally occurring amino sugar that is responsible for the production of connective tissue in the body. Cartilage is the cushioning substance between the bones, and water is held in the joints to lubricate and nourish. When the cartilage wears down, there is friction between the bones and hence pain and osteoarthritis rears its painful head. Glucosamine Sulphate is derived from crab shell and is made up of glucose, which is the sugar and glutamine, an important amino acid for providing the structure to hair, nails, skin, bone and cartilage. As we get older, our Glucosamine production slows down. Over the last 100 years or so, our lifespan has increased dramatically and the wear and tear on our joints has also increased, Taking Glucosamine helps to promote healthy joints, ensuring cartilage production is strengthened and the joint continues to be lubricated. Lots of testing has been carried out on the effectiveness of this supplement and it has been successfully proven that it is more effective long-term than NSAID’s such as Ibuprofen but of course, with none of the side effects. It promotes repair to any damage occurring to the soft tissue in and around the joints due to injury or over training and it helps improve the mobility of the joints by strengthening the support of the cartilage and connective tissue (also very useful in fractures and age-related bone loss).
